Hello! Happy Monday!

I’ve had the loveliest couple of weeks. We’ve got lots of house stuff planned and in some cases actually started (I know!!), visited Leeds to see Alex’s mum who gave us a tour of her incredibly organised, thriving allotment, as well as some tomato, pepper and chilli plants to take home, and spent some time at the beach near my dad’s. And this long weekend just gone was especially lush. On Friday, my cousin joined me for walkies and coffee (puppacino for Hugh, lattes for us), and then I enjoyed a day pottering around the house and cooking Saturday night’s feast ahead of our friends arriving. We took them to our fave country pub where they have pétanque and a big smoker for slow-cooked brisket, spicy whole chickens and vegan koftas, all served with beans and greens and creamy stuff and baps. Delish! Soon after we were back with the pooch for playing - we bought him some beef-flavoured bubbles which are quite frankly disgusting - and drinkies before digging into more food: the saag paneer, black dal, jackfruit & potato biryani and accoutrements I’d prepared earlier followed by Alex’s trademark tiramisu. Pre-goodbyes on Sunday, we had breakfast bagels on the patio and mooched into town, walking along the river with iced lattes (realising now just how lucky we were that it was so beautifully sunny but also that I managed not to get sunburnt!), then I whiled away the rest of the afternoon on the sofa typing the next section of this post. It took me so long to write it, then delete it, write it again and consider not publishing it at all. You see, I have some exciting personal news, which I will be protecting behind a paywall :D
