Hello! Happy Monday!
Without sounding like a broken record but keen to convince you I’ve been writing to you a little less with good reason: I’ve not left bed much in the last few weeks. This is no doubt boring, repetitive information (for you and me!), so I won’t jinx things by once more proclaiming ‘I’m finally on the mend’. Who knows how long this bout of wellness and walkability will last, who can tell when the next slip, trip or germ will head this way, my days are mostly probably numbered… Nearly Christmas though, eh? This week is all about prepping for the festivities! I need to get the house straight (any chore that requires bending or reaching has been paused so it’s no small feat) and sort some last-minute prezzies. Is everyone else done? Surely not? Here’s hoping I can shoehorn a few festive recipes in this week as we test the dishes we’ll be serving up on the big day(s) and share gift ideas for the chefs, gardeners and hosts in your life as I scour the internet’s shelves.
Keep warm, stay safe and enjoy the Christmas build-up! x
My very simple amaretto sour recipe is guaranteed to make you feel good/rosy-cheeked. I always forget how much I love a sour cocktail then have one in a bar, swear I’ll make one at home, go to make one at home, realise it’s got raw egg white in it and have a gin and tonic instead, but no more! They are delicious and feel like a ‘proper’ drink with nowhere near as much fuss/risk of salmonella as you’d think: 2 shots amaretto (I use Disaronno) | 1 shot bourbon | 1 shot lemon juice | 1 shot egg white ~ Put the amaretto, bourbon, lemon juice and egg white in a cocktail shaker and shake for 30 seconds. Fill it up to about halfway with ice and shake for another 30 seconds or until the ice has disappeared. Strain into a glass with a large ice cube in it and if you want, finish with a cocktail cherry
‘Tis the season for baths and if a long hot soak in a tub filled with these L’Occitane bubbles doesn’t make you feel good, I don’t know what will ;)

Buy a Christmas dinner for someone experiencing homelessness this Christmas! Donating £29.73 to Crisis will provide them with a Christmas dinner, somewhere warm and safe to sleep, a hot shower, access to health and wellbeing services and support finding employment and getting off the streets for good
Making handmade decorations. Christmas doesn’t have to be about spending loads, especially on decs you’ll only look at for a couple of weeks. I tried to make those viral pointy stars but my brain doesn’t work that way, so I stuck some old William & Morris postcards together, cut diamonds out of them and hung them on the stairs with ribbon. So many people have asked me where I bought them! Get the Christmas songs on, pour yourself a cup of cocoa and get crafting!
